SESSION OBJECTIVES: Following this session learners should be better able to:

  • Summarize evidence supporting benefits of mindfulness
  • Persuade a (role-play) patient to try meditation as a stress-reduction technique
  • Practice meditation using the body scan

PREREQUISITE READING/VIDEOS (to be completed prior to start of Session #2)

ASSIGNMENT #2 (to be completed prior to Session #2) Summarize the first week of meditation practice using either bullet points or prose. Can include reflection, graphs or tables, and/or a discussion of recurring themes. Please write your thoughts down and bring them to class. They will be used to help the discussion with the group, but will not be collected.
